NFL Week 6 Recap
Highlights
- Green Bay Packers' Dominant Performance: Jordan Love shined, throwing four touchdowns in a 34-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Love connected with nine different receivers and led Green Bay to an early 24-0 lead.
- Detroit Lions Rout Cowboys: The Lions dismantled the Cowboys, showcasing their offensive firepower and a stingy defense, continuing their impressive run in the NFC.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Explosion: In a wild game, Tampa Bay overpowered the New Orleans Saints 51-27.
Laggards and Stalwarts
Laggards
- QB Deshaun Watson (Cleveland Browns): Watson struggled to move the ball, finishing with just 182 yards and two interceptions in a 20-16 loss to the Eagles.
- WR Marquise Brown (Arizona Cardinals): Brown had limited impact in the Cardinals' blowout loss, with only three receptions for 37 yards despite being targeted six times.
Stalwarts
- WR Chris Godwin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Godwin had himself a day breaking out for 122 yards 11 receptions and two touchdowns. He's getting targets from Baker Mayfield who is having an incredible run this year at the helm.
- WR Drake London (Atlanta Falcons): is off to a strong start in his third season with the Falcons. Through the first six weeks of the 2024 campaign, the former USC standout has accumulated 38 receptions for 428 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 11.3 yards per catch.. London's chemistry with new Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins appears to be growing each week. With his consistent target share and big-play ability, London is establishing himself as a reliable fantasy option and a key piece of Atlanta's passing attack.
Waiver Wire Watchlist
- RB Kimani Vidal (Los Angeles Chargers): Vidal made an impact in his NFL debut with a rushing touchdown and solid play-sharing duties with J.K. Dobbins. Vidal's increasing role makes him a strong waiver target.
- RB Sean Tucker (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): A RBBC (running back by committee) emerges in Tampa Bay. Sean Tucker posted an impressive stat line going 14 for 136 yards and a touchdown as the Bucs walloped the Saints. While most managers may want to avoid an RBBC with the number of injuries occurring Tucker could be worth a waiver pick up.
Injuries to Monitor
- WR Josh Reynolds (Detroit Lions): Reynolds suffered a hand injury and was placed on injured reserve, affecting the Lions' receiving depth.
- TE Hayden Hurst (Los Angeles Chargers): Hurst left the game with a groin injury, and his status for Week 7 is in question. Will Dissly could see an expanded role if Hurst misses time.
Player Spotlight: Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams, the Bears' rookie quarterback and No. 1 overall pick, is hitting his stride after a slow start to the season. In Week 6's dominant 35-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, Williams completed 23 of 29 passes (79.3%) for 226 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. This marks his third consecutive strong performance, as over the last three games, he has completed 60 of 81 passes (74.1%) for 687 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one interception. Williams' 124.4 quarterback rating against the Jaguars fell just shy of his 126.2 mark from the previous week's 36-10 win over the Panthers. With nine touchdown passes through six games, Williams has already surpassed the rookie totals of notable Bears quarterbacks Jim McMahon and Kyle Orton, who each threw nine touchdowns in their debut seasons. The Bears' all-time rookie record is 11 touchdown passes, set by Charlie O'Rourke in 19421. Given his recent form and the Bears' 4-2 record heading into their bye week, Williams appears poised to break that record and lead Chicago to playoff contention in the competitive NFC North.
