NFL Weeks 3-5 Recap
The Highlights * Baker Mayfield (QB, TB) carved up Seattle in what some analysts are calling a perfect game: 379 yards, 2 TD
What's up MoneyLeaguers?
It's been a while since I've posted after going on a hiatus around week 11 last season, NFL Week 11 Recap was the last post that I made on the site. Thanks in large part to bathroom renovations which took about 6 weeks and made keeping up with the site challenging. In fantasy football news the '24 season was not kind to my team as I flirted with last place throughout the year. Luckily, this season there are no major renovations planned so I should have time to stay on top of things with respect to MoneyLeaguers. I'm excited for this second season but before I get into our plans for 2025, let's do a quick look back at our inaugural year.
Last year I launched MoneyLeaguers, inspired after winning my third championship in my over-a-decade long, standard league. What started out initially as a joke to mess with my friends quickly turned into a full blown side-project. Who would have thought I'd enjoy tinkering with a website in my free time? Here's a list of what was accomplished for the year:
All in all, it was a solid first season. One of my biggest takeaways was appreciation for the "builders". Whether it's running a site, developing physical products, side hustles, crafts, contributing to open source, whatever it is. I have a lot more respect for the effort these people put in than I did before. While the book is closed on the 2024 season there's a lot to look forward to in the 2025 season.
It's August 10th which means the official Fantasy Football season is less than a month away. Most drafts including ours occur right around Labor Day to avoid drafting players with preseason injuries.
I should note, I say we a lot when I refer to MoneyLeaguers, not because there's a team behind the curtain, but because friends and family chip in from time to time. If you're reading this and you've helped out whether its feedback, a quick subscription, tinkering with the site, finding bugs, sharing on your socials, or anything at all to help shape MoneyLeaguers, I sincerely thank you!
To start we're going to kick off the new season with our brand new tool! The Fleece-O-Meter officially went live on Sunday, July 27th at MoneyLeaguers.com/tools/Fleece-O-Meter:

The Fleece-O-Meter is our first ever trade evaluation tool. You enter the players that you're considering trading away and the players your opponent is offering you. Once submitted, the trade then runs through our homegrown algorithm and determines whether or not the trade is fair, a good trade for you, a questionable trade, or an outright fleece that should be avoided.
The idea for the Fleece-O-Meter came straight from my league group chat. One league-mate (who shall remain nameless 🤐) had an incredible run last year but, in my expert opinion, accepted some pretty lopsided trades. In our league, we call that a “Fleece”. As in a highway robbery, a rip-off, a one-sided deal. As in, dang, you just got FLEECED!
Sure, trades are subjective. What looks terrible at first can sometimes work out, and vice versa. But after watching a few too many of these fleeces go down, I started testing existing trade evaluation tools. I wasn’t impressed, so I built my own — The Fleece-O-Meter — to hopefully help mitigate future fleecings.
As of today, the Fleece-O-Meter runs on 2024 data plus 2025 projections. Updates are planned weekly after Monday Night Football, though more frequent updates could happen down the road if costs and tech allow.
Our ask: After you submit a trade, hit the thumbs up or thumbs down based on whether you agree with the Fleece-O-Meter’s evaluation. Your feedback helps us continue to refine the algorithm.

Apart from trying to perfect the Fleece-O-Meter we're aiming for the following goals for our second year:
So that's it, that's our MoneyLeaguers 2025 roadmap, subject to change of course. Best of luck this season in your leagues and thank you for checking out and sticking with MoneyLeaguers.
